County: Dona Ana

Charges: Felony CTA
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Frank McClung

An alleged act of animal cruelty has landed a Do a Ana County resident behind bars.

Frank McClung was arrested Monday on a charge of extreme animal cruelty in the 400 block of Paseo Real in Chaparral after investigators said he killed a 5-week-old kitten days earlier.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to that address on July 16. Witnesses reportedly told deputies McClung picked up the kitten and threw it "like a baseball," Sgt. Jason Cogdill said.

The kitten hit a wooden post and died. An investigation determined the kitten was in good health before being killed. The cause of death was ruled blunt-force trauma.
