Puppy locked in hot car

A woman was ticketed after reportedly leaving a puppy in a car for at least two hours Wednesday.

Capt. Rich Demick said an officer was notified by an attendant at 2:20 p.m. that a small dog was in a vehicle parked in the Union Station lot, 50 E. Jefferson St., with the windows slightly cracked.

"The parking ticket in the window had been purchased at 12:27 p.m. and the temperature outside was 76 degrees," Demick said. Holly A. Strange, 33, of 321 S. Fifth Ave. in Monmouth, was given a compliance ticket for cruelty to animals. According to reports, the dog, which belonged to a relative of Strange, did not require veterinarian treatment.
