Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

The New York State Humane Association is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for the animal abuse and neglect of of two six-month old puppies found in East Utica on Tuesday.

Utica Police say the outcome of this investigation hangs on people coming forward with accurate information if they recognize animals in the photos. If you have any information you are asked to call the Utica Police Department at 315-223-3500.

The two female puppies are a pit bull mix, now in safe hands and under the care of a veterinarian. Once they are stronger and can be released from 24 hour veterinary care, they will be released to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society.

Extreme neglect of the two dogs has left them at half the weight they should be for their age. Both dogs were found outside a house on Jay and Nichols Streets Tuesday morning.

However, Utica Police say they do not believe the dogs are from that area. Neighbors say they had never seen the animals before.

Instead, the Utica Police Department believes the dogs were brought in from another area and dumped on Jay Street. Both dogs were found wearing collars, but did not have identification.
