On the afternoon June 21, 2011 Livingston Parish Deputies were notified of a possible animal cruelty complaint on West Street near Springfield, La. Upon arrival the Deputy located a malnourished black lab on a chain near a dog house. The only available water source was approximately four feet beyond reach of the very skinny dog. A Boxer dog, in even worse condition, was located inside the doghouse. When the owner led it out of the doghouse, it took a few steps and collapsed. No food was available for either animal. The owner told the Deputy he had no job and was unable to care for the dogs. He also said he would borrow food from neighbors and family to feed the dogs.
