A man is facing second offense domestic violence along with animal cruelty after an early morning incident in Wheeling Friday.

Officers were called to 2228 Eoff Street after the live in girlfriend of Charles Beever, 45, claims he became destructive, struck her and then began choking her pug dog.

When officers arrived, a report states they found the dog panting and having a hard time breathing.

The girlfriend claims Beever had been drinking and the report states a juvenile witnessed the incident.

Beever is in the Northern Regional Jail and will be arraigned in front of Magistrate Harry Radcliffe where a $10,000 cash bond will be issued.
