SCRAPS is investigating a cat hording case involving ten cats in a Spokane Valley trailer. Two of them already had to be euthanized because of their poor conditions.

The case was so foul that SCRAPS got a warrant to investigate the property on Wednesday to remove the cats. The owner could now face animal cruelty charges. An informant smelled the cats and called the animal protection agency. An officer investigated and found ten cats living in a travel trailer on the Spokane Valley property.

Authorities said the animals were skin and bones. Many had respiratory infections and other ailments. The responding officer saw animal feces, cat litter and garbage in the trailer. Two of the cats had to be euthanized. The other eight are now being treated at a local vet.

The owner could face charges from animal cruelty to operating an unlicensed private kennel. SCRAPS has 14 days to suggest charges for the prosecutor's office. If convicted, the charges range from misdemeanor to a class C felony.
