Malnourished dog found bleeding from mouth

The arrests come after the discovery of an injured pitbull.

Marcus Rutherford, Kevin Hardwick and Joseph Hemphill and Brenda McLester have been arrested.

Rutherford, Harwick and McLester face gun charges including posession of a firearm during commission of a crime and posession of a firearm by a convicted felon. All four face drug charges including possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and posession of a drug related object.

Brenda McLester also known as Regina Ingram is also charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

According to arrest reports, last Friday a pitbull was found at 60 Muscogee Drive with extreme facial wounds.

Reports say the dog appeared to be involved in dog fighting.

The search warrant police executed also turned up a total of $70 dollars worth of powder cocaine, marijuana, along with an electronic scale and a .45 calibur pistol.

This isn't the only recent report of dog fighting in Columbus.

A week earlier, a pitbull was seized at Victory Trailer Park on Cusseta Road.

According to the report, a pit bull by the name of "Redman" was found and taken by animal control.

The report says that they have received complaints about dog fighting in the area.

No one was arrested at the trailer park because the report says the owner of the pitbull could not be found.
