Dog beaten to death, body thrown in pond
Brighton, MI (US)

Incident Date: Monday, Apr 4, 2011
County: Livingston

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Jordan Wade Frank

Brighton police are looking for a city resident whom they say beat his dog to death and then tossed the body into a pond near an apartment complex.

A warrant for Jordan Wade Frank has been authorized, charging the 21-year-old man with cruelty to one animal causing death and illegally burying the animal.

Chief Tom Wightman of the Brighton Police Department said Wednesday that the investigation began April 4 after a passer-by discovered a dog's corpse inside a duffel bag he pulled from a pond near Brighton Cove Apartments.

The dog's body was sent to a Michigan State University veterinarian, who ruled the dog died from blunt-force trauma.

Wightman said the object used to beat the dog to death is not known, but investigators were able to trace the dog's ownership to Frank, who has not returned to his Brighton home.

Wightman said witnesses claimed Frank had two dogs, but a second dog has not been located.

Anyone who sees Frank is asked to call their local police department or the Brighton Police Department at (810) 227-2700.
