A man accused of shooting four dogs in their heads was arrested Tuesday at a friend's home in Decatur. But police could not confirm if the dogs belonged to the man.

Officers charged Mr. Howard Alexander Oneal, 39, with dog fighting, four counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, DeKalb County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Adrion Bell said.

Mr. Oneal took the four pit bull dogs into a back yard and shot them once in the head, Sgt. Bell said. It's unclear if the dogs were used for fighting and why they were killed, Sgt. Bell said.

Officers arrested Mr. Oneal at 3760 Flat Shoals Pkwy., Sgt. Bell said.
