Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

A bay Shetland pony is lucky to be alive after a British RSPCA inspector discovered her with a tethering chain that had bitten deep into her neck.

The dark bay Shetland, nicknamed Suzie, had to be sedated at a veterinary clinic for the removal of the chain, which left deep wounds in her neck.

She remained under care at a veterinary clinic for a week following her discovery.

The British RSPCA is appealing for information about Susie's circumstances.

She was seen by a member of the public in a field in Lower Lane, Bradford, who contacted the RSPCA over concerns the horse had the remains of a Christmas tree caught in the chain.

It took some effort to catch her, at which point inspectors saw the severity of her problem.

Susie went for urgent veterinary care on March 17 for removal of the chain.

The wound left by the chain was too big to stitch, but Suzie is recovering well.
