Cat shot with air rifle
Dunbar Close, Lordshill, EN (UK)

Incident Date: Saturday, Mar 26, 2011

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

A PET cat had to undergo emergency surgery after being shot.

The four-year-old ginger feline, called Honey, was shot with what police believe was an airgun.

The pet was left with a potentially life threatening injury and has now had an operation to remove the airgun pellet. Honey is now making a recovery.

Police are now trying to trace who shot the cat and are appealing for anyone who may know or who witnesses the incident to get in contact with them.

PC Lynette Chant, who is investigating, said: "This was a very cruel thing to do to a defenceless animal and a loved pet. It is just luck that Honey survived. If anyone does know who caused this injury to Honey I'd urge them to come forward.

"I'd also advise people in the area to be vigilant about the safety of their pets at the moment while we try to trace the person responsible."

The incident sometime between 2-4pm in Dunbar Close in Lordshill on Saturday, March 26.

Anyone with information is asked to call PC Chant at Shirley police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
