39 year old Cassandra Wheeler was arrested on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 for allegedly starving her dog to death.

A Humane Law Enforcement found the body of Ms. Wheeler's dog locked inside a cage on her porch at 1027 47th Place, NE on October 23, 2010.

Justice, a one and a half year old black Labrador mix was skin and bones, and her cage was filled with waste and a chewed up, empty plastic bowl.

WHS authorities say Ms. Wheeler realized Justice had passed on October 22nd and was trying to arrange to have the animal's body moved to the curb side for a dead animal pickup by the District's sanitation department.

A necropsy on Justice's body revealed that the dog had been starved for almost a month.
