Small dog found skinned, beheaded
Bryan, TX (US)

Incident Date: Friday, Dec 10, 2010
County: Brazos

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

The Brazos County Sheriff's Office is investigating an animal cruelty case after a dog was found mutilated and dumped on the side of the road this weekend.

News 3 spoke with the woman who made the gruesome discovery and News 3 wants to warn you some of the content in the video is graphic.

"Parked and got out of my car and couldn't figure out what it was," said Christine, who asked News 3 to conceal her identity.

Christine made a gruesome discovery while driving down Grassbur Road in eastern Brazos County Friday.

"It looked like it had been skinned. Come to find out I saw the little puppy paws and I knew it was a little dog and they had skinned it, they had cut it's head off. It's just incredible," she said.

A small dog lay dead in the ditch in such a gruesome condition we can't show you on TV.

"It's just heartbreaking, it's scary too because you don't know who, is there a monster among us who is doing something like this because the officers both told me that people who do these things start with animals and they hurt animals and then they go on to people and they become the next serial killers of the world," Christine said.

She contacted the Brazos County Sheriff's Office, who's opened an investigation.

Sunday afternoon she and her friend Lee Norris collected the remains for a proper burial.

"She needed help so I'm gonna help her and I don't like to see cruelty done to animals. I mean that's an animal you know they've got a soul just like people do, you know that's the way I look at it," said Lee Norris, a Brazos County resident.

Norris has volunteered with the animal rescue group American Bullmastiff Association for nearly four years and said this is the first case he's seen of a dead dog.

"They're not right in the head, what can you say they're, if you can do that to an animal you can do it to anything and if you're going to do that to an animal there's a possibility that you would do that to a person," Norris said.

Norris speculates this might have been the work of kids.

"Something like that, not necessarily an adult but I mean it could be an adult who's to say? But most of the time when I see these cases they're teenagers or something like that," Norris said.

Now Christine, who is a volunteer at God's Little Creatures Animal Rescue is on a mission to bring justice for the little dog who's life was cut short in such a terrible way.

"That person so needs help, he needs to be put in jail so that he can't do this to any other animal and he needs therapy so bad, he needs to be talked to, he needs to find out, get to the root to whatever caused him to be this way," Christine said.

Christine is also planning to contact the Houston Chapter of the SPCA and friends are establishing a $300 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the dog's death.
