Dog shot with arrow
Kerrville, TX (US)

Incident Date: Monday, Oct 25, 2010
County: Kerr

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

One of man's best friends is on the road to recovery after being shot in the side by a three-blade, broad-head arrow.

The incident happened over a week ago in Kerrville. The one-year-old Labrador mix was found on the property of a man who called Kerr County Animal Control. They took the dog to the Freeman-Fritts Veterinary Clinic.

"It was horrible. The second I saw her, I cried, " said Jessica Light, a kennel technician.

Dr. Shelby Key performed surgery on the dog to remove the arrow that went through one side and nearly came out the other.

"What we had to do was go in a make and incision on the opposite side," said Key. "We had to go in and unscrew the head from the shaft (and) remove the shaft on one end."

Key said she then had to pull the arrow head out through the incision she made.

The puppy, who the staff affectionately call "Arrow", is one her way to a full recovery, but she needs a home.

If you are interested in adopting Arrow, you can call the Freeman-Fritts Veterinary Clinic at 1-830-257-4144.
