Alleged: Steven Colegrove
A Stevens Point man was in court yesterday, accused of animal mistreatment causing death. 36-year-old Steven Colegrove sent a text message to his wife saying he shot her dog after they got into an argument. The animal later died.
The incident happened on July 11th. Jennifer Colegrove filed a complaint with police, saying she and her husband got into a physical confrontation at their home. She had accused him of being unfaithful.
After he was released from jail, Colegrove sent a text message to his wife that he was going to shoot her dog. The animal was found shot several times with birdshot, and eventually died after being taken to an animal hospital. Colegrove's blood alcohol level at the time he was arrested was point-23.
Colegrove will be back in court for a pre-trial hearing in August. References |
