Ricardo Farrell, 23, Fairbanks, was charged with cruelty to animals after his wife said he picked her cat up by the hind legs and slammed its head into a tree following an argument. She initially thought the cat was dead, but it was only knocked unconscious by the impact, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.

A Fairbanks Police officer observed that the cat had blood around its face and paws and its breathing was shallow and rapid. Pink-tinged foam was also seen coming from its mouth. The cat was transported to an animal hospital.
