Bremerton, WA (US)

Incident Date: Thursday, Dec 28, 2000
County: Kitsap

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Sandra Bagley

Case Updates: 1 update(s) available

Sandra Bagley, 48, pleaded innocent to second-degree animal cruelty in Kitsap County District Court.  Authorities had found 46 dogs and cats living in her filthy home southwest of Bremerton.

Her home was raided Dec. 28, 2000 by two Kitsap County Humane Society staffers and two sheriff's deputies who said the animals included 38 dogs that appeared to be purebred chihuahuas.

Court documents gave the following description:

"Dogs and cats were found in the main house, a travel trailer, an outbuilding and a pet carrier outside the house. Animals in the house included four puppies covered in urine and feces and two other dogs.

Cats were found in the travel trailer, also covered with urine and feces. Most of the dogs, caged and uncaged, were in an unlit and unventilated outbuilding which reeked of urine and feces. The pet carrier contained a small pregnant dog without food or water.

A dead puppy was found on top of a microwave in the outbuilding, a dead turkey was found in a coop and a dead rabbit was found next to its cage. "

Bagley has had her AKC breeding license suspended for 10 years for failure to comply with the recordkeeping and identification requirements. (10/00)

Case Updates

Bagley's AKC privileges have been suspended for a period of ten years, effective September 11, 2000, and a $2,000 fine for failure to comply with the recordkeeping and identification requirements.
