Our Story
Hi, I’m Nathan Sprouse, a veterinarian and animal behavior researcher.
I never planned to start a pet website. The idea behind Pet Abuse came from something I witnessed early in my career that stayed with me for years.
A neglected dog was brought into a local clinic. While its injuries healed, the fear and anxiety it carried stayed with me long after. That experience showed me that animal suffering isn’t always the result of cruelty.
In many cases, it comes from a lack of knowledge about proper pet care and behavior.
It pushed me to learn more and share what I was learning with others. Over time, those conversations turned into articles, guides, and eventually this platform.
The name Pet Abuse reflects the site’s focus on animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. My goal is to provide reliable information that helps pet owners make informed decisions and give their animals the care they deserve.
To me, pets are family. We adjust our schedules and daily lives around them because they mean so much to us. Many mental health professionals also recognize the positive role pets can play by providing companionship, routine, and emotional support.
Through this platform, I hope to help pet owners better understand their animals and build stronger, healthier relationships with them.
