This graph represents the types of reporting parties in cases where that information was available. By reporting party, we mean the individual or individuals who initially reported the cruelty. Where Police or ACO (Animal Control Officer) appears, that usually implies that the officer was called to the location for some other reason and discovered the alleged cruelty. Please note that the reporting party data field was added in 2007, so some older cases have not been updated to reflect this information yet.
