Alleged: Joseph Thompson
Joseph Thompson, 24, was arrested March 15 by Pryor Police Department. Thompson appeared in Mayes County District Court via video conference from the Mayes County Jail.
He is charged with first degree burglary as it is alleged in the probable cause affidavit filed in the case that he broke into and entered John Martin's home on South Mayes Street, by forcing his way into the front door with the intent to commit malicious injury.
The second count listed in the case is a felony count of cruelty to animals. The affidavit alleges he cruelly injured a dog that was in captivity, belonging to Brandy Richard, by "hitting the dog with a baseball bat."
He allegedly did $2,500 worth of damage inside the house, leading to felony charges of malicious injury to property. Thompson allegedly used a baseball bat on the computer, television, natural gas heater and walls of the residence. The affidavit alleges Thompson hit David Addington with the bat, with the intent of doing bodily harm. Thompson is charged with a felony count of assault with a dangerous weapon.
Lastly, Thompson is charged with resisting an officer, a misdemeanor.
While Thompson has no prior criminal record, both the homeowner and dog owner listed in the case do.
Judge Rebecca Gore set Thompson's bond at $100,000 at his arraignment and continued his case to April 17.
