Defendant/Suspect: Russell Metcalf
A Harrisonburg Police Officer has been convicted of animal cruelty. Officer Russell Metcalf says he was off duty when a dog chased him while he was on his bike. Metcalf allegedly shot and killed the dog.
Metcalf took the stand Thursday, during a court hearing. This is the second case of animal cruelty against a Harrisonburg police officer. Another officer was charged after allegedly beating a cat to death with a nightstick. That case was later dropped.
