12 dogs, 3 horses seized Jacksboro, TX (US)Incident Date: Friday, Feb 13, 2009 County: Jack
Disposition: Not Charged
Person of Interest: Maggy West
Twelve dogs, a goat, two Shetland ponies and a horse are now under the care of experts after Jacksboro Animal Control seized them Friday afternoon.
According to an application for warrant filed with Justice of the Peace J. Nolan Dunlap, the animals were being subjected to deplorable living conditions.
Animal Control Officer Star Kinder said the animals were not mistreated, they were just not receiving adequate attention.
The animals belong to Maggy West, 701 Brook St., whom Kinder believes tried her best to give them a good home with what resources she had available to her.
"I just think she got in over her head," Kinder said.
Kinder was scheduled to appear in JP Court this morning (Thursday) to testify in a custody hearing for the animals.
The animal control officer said she is not seeking criminal charges against West.
"I just want to make sure that these animals have a good home," Kinder said.
Should West lose custody of the animals, they will be put up for adoption. References« TX State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Jack County, TX
