County: Grayson

Disposition: Not Charged

Person of Interest: woman

North Texas authorities seized 22 dogs found crammed inside a station wagon with their owner.

SPCA of Texas spokeswoman Maura Davies says the owner locked the car doors and refused to come out when a constable tried to serve her a warrant for the seizure of the dogs early today.

The two puppies and 20 dogs were in the car along with a pot of water, blankets and waste.

SPCA of Texas rescue and investigations supervisor, Courtney Stevens, said in a news release that the car was soaked with urine and covered in feces.

The animals were taken to a shelter and a hearing on their custody is set for Feb. 16 in Denison.

Grayson County constable Michael Putman says the owner does not face charges. She wasn't coherent and the SPCA said it has contacted Adult Protective Services about the woman.

Pottsboro is about 70 miles north of Dallas.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
