The Washington Area Humane Society is offering a $1,000 reward for information about a coonhound found hanging from a tree.

The Washington Area Humane Society says the killing is the second involving animal cruelty this week. On Sunday, a black cat was shot with an arrow and died.

Authorities say a pheasant hunter found the dog hanging from a tree by a nylon leash on state game lands in East Finley Township.

A humane officer says the dog had been well cared for, noting that its nails were trimmed and its coat was in good condition.

Officials believe the dog had been hanged about three weeks before its carcass was found Monday.
