Case Report

Dr. Trueblood was named in a misdemeanor alleging he permitted an Arabian mare he owns to become so thin its health was in danger.  The horse was removed from the doctors boarding facility near Indian 2 and State Line Rd. on the Indiana-Illinois border west of Lowell.

Another veterinarian examined the horse and confired the horse was neglected.  The horse was taken to a Cedar Lake-area farm for recuperation.

The doctor must post a cash bond that will be used to feed and care for the horse.

A special deputy of the County Sherriff's animal protective services had been investigating the boarding facility since last spring.  Several verbal, in person and written warnings had been given to the doctor to take better care of his horses.  The remaining horses at the facility appeared to be healthy and did a 4 1/2 month foal that was also seized.  The Arabian could have become undernourished because it had been nursing the foal and the doctor had failed to provide extra food for her.

The doctor also faces a misdemeanor batter charge stemming from an attack on Cynthia Mock, a nurse who formerly worked at Trueblood's Merrillville Broadwest Algology Center.

Trueblood recently had to pay the federal government $35,000 to satisfy a complaint he failed to keep proper records of drug purchases and sales for his Broadwest Algology Centers in Merrillville and Valparaiso.  The Indiana Medical Licensing Board revoked his license to practice medicine following the record-keeping violation.  Trueblood is appealing that ruling.
