Sentence: In a plea bargain, Laura Valencia, 35, of Bloomfield entered a no-contest plea to one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty involving an underweight mare seized from her home in April.

Three other charges, a felony related to a horse that died and two other misdemeanors in connection with the care of a third underweight horse and a dehydrated dog, were dismissed as part of the plea.

Judge René Chouteau ordered Valencia to serve one year of informal probation and complete 20 hours of community service within the next four months.
