A 23-year-old local man was charged on Oct 30 with cruelty to animals and reckless endangerment for killing a cat with a bow and arrow, police said.

Jason Reutter was arrested at his apartment on the night of Oct 29 on Jobs Hill Road after neighbors reported that they heard glass break and a cat cry. A cat was found with an arrow sticking out of its body, police said.

"We don't know what his motivation was," said Lt. Alaric Fox, commanding officer of Troop C. "Behavior like that causes us some concern."

Reutter is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court Nov. 7.
