North Little Rock Police are investigating a case of animal cruelty after a Tennessee walking horse was found shot several times early Oct 26 afternoon.
The incident happened in a pasture off Graham Road near Rose City. Police are hoping someone heard or saw something Thursday, to lead them to a suspect. Meantime the animal abuse investigator is looking into the possibility of filing felony charges.
(Homer McGhee, Horse Trainer) "This is not the first horse shot in this pasture; he's the fourth horse that's been shot."
Friday, veterinarian Teresa Miller worked feverishly to keep "Aragon" alive. The Tennessee Walker is in critical condition, suffering from wounds around the eyes, sinuses and the left side of his body.
(Kay Jordan, Animal Abuse Investigator) "I want to know who is mean enough, cruel enough and cold enough inside to kill 4 horses on 3 and possible the fourth one die and be able to go to bed and sleep and not worry about it."
Kay Jordan admits she is concerned by the type of person who shoots an animal like this and leaves it for dead.
(Jordan) "There can be a felony charge of criminal mischief and also a charge of animal cruelty which is a misdemeanor."
(McGhee) "I don't know if he's going to live but we're keeping our fingers crossed."
