Marge Cook has received citations on suspicion of one count of animal cruelty, one count of failing to vaccinate the cats and one count of failing to obtain a cattery license. If Cook is found guilty, each violation is a misdemeanor and punishable by a fine of up to $500 and six months in jail.

On June 22, a search warrant was issued after a neighbor complained about a stench coming from the house. More than 30 cats had been seized from the home and five were found dead. The authorities aren't certain how many more cats remain in the home.

Darcy Beck of the Humane Society said, "We still have traps set up inside the house. It could be several more days before we're done there."

Since the cats lacked socialization and the rooms inside the home are filled with garbage and feces, it has been extremely difficult to capture the cats. The cats are being considered wild and have been difficult to locate in the home, because there are piles of feces in the home that are 5 and 6 feet tall.

Almost all of the cats removed from the home have been euthanized or have died. Beck said it is likely that all the cats will die.
