Dog killed, possibly shot to death
Atlanta, GA (US)

Incident Date: Sunday, Oct 8, 2006
County: Fulton

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

There is an investigation into the possible shooting of a dog in southwest Atlanta. Its owner found the Jack Russell Terrier dead in the family's front yard – covered in puncture wounds.

Now a mother and son are desperate to learn how the dog died.

It's difficult for the Jenkins family to believe someone could shoot and kill their dog.

After meeting with police this weekend, though, their suspicions soared – and now they plan to take the dog's body to a veterinarian to try and figure out exactly how he died.

Dog lover Diane Jenkins made the heartbreaking discovery early on the morning of Oct 8. She let her family's three Jack Russell Terriers outside for about half an hour.

When she called them back in – only two returned.

She found the body of "Max" – her son's dog – lying in the front yard with at least two puncture wounds.

A police officer told Jenkins and her son that it appeared someone shot Max – though a veterinarian would have to say for certain.

Diane Jenkins says no matter how Max died, his loss only deepens the grief for her family – her husband and her son's father died in June from a heart attack.
