A Jensen Beach man was charged with felony battery, false imprisonment and cruelty to an animal after he reportedly dragged a woman into his house, punched her in the face and stomach then beat her pit bull puppy in the head, threw the dog in a cage and sprayed disinfectant in its face.

Bryan N. Pustover, 20, of 1271 N.E. Sunrise Terrace, also was charged with grand theft for reportedly stealing the woman's purse when she fled the house on Oct 20 night and sought help at a neighbor's house, according to his arrest affidavit.

The purse contained credit cards, a cell phone and $75 in cash.

Pustover was being held in lieu of $105,500 bond on Oct 22 at the Martin County jail.
