Miles Albrecht of Medicine Hat said he decided to spearhead a petition movement for stiffer laws after his 12-year-old daughter came home from school on the afternoon of Oct 13 to find her pet rabbit Midnight mutilated, cut open from its breast bone to its back side, its stomach missing.
