White is charged wtih 3 counts of unlawful abandonment or confinement of animals and 1 count of cruelty to animals.

Animal control seized 27 animals after going to White's home in response to an anonymous report of barking dogs.  The ACO's found the animals in an unventilated shed without food or water.  The temperature of the shed was 95 degrees.

All the animals were sick, and several of the dogs had heart worms.  All the animals had intestinal parasites, ring worm and coccidia.  The persian cats were so badly matted that their skin had separated leaving open gashes.

White is a part-time veterinary technician at Dr. Needham, DVM's New Smyrna Beach animal hospital.

A judge penned an order to release 16 of the 27 animals for adoption.  Officials at the Southeast Volusia Humane Society euthanized 7 cats and 7 pups enraging Edgewater officials.  The city severed ties with the Humane Society on June 5th 2002 by removing the remaining animals from the shelter.

6 Humane Society board members later resigned in protest of the killings.
