Guns, drug paraphernalia, animal cruelty, and suspected prostitution are what Corpus Christi police discovered after a raid Monday afternoon.
The call to up to 10 shots being fired came in to police at around 2:00 from a resident living near the home on the corner of Mussett and Josephine.
A search inside and outside uncovered a rottweiler with a bullet through the eye, drug paraphernalia, a suspected prostitute caught in the act, a juvenile with such a wad of money that it actually fell out of his pants, and a number of weapons, including a stainless steel Ruger with a competition style scope attached.
CCPD Lt. Ken Ersland says, "We've got a couple of very high priced, powerful rifles out there, plus a chopped up .22 rifle."
It was a troubling thought to those who live in the area like Catalina Pena, who says it's especially scary because of all the kids who frequent the streets around the area. Officers say this is not the first time officers have responded to calls at the home.
"This house is a very well-known house to us," says Ersland, "we have bangers here, dope dealing, and everything else, so it's a nuisance."
Because officers had to take fingerprints off the guns, and also contact the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms to find out who the guns actually belong to, no arrests were made Monday. They say once the details are sorted out, either they or animal control officers will likely charge someone at the home with animal cruelty.
Cruelty to animals that results in death is considered a state jail felony in Texas, punishable by up to two years in jail and up to $10,000 in fines. Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
