more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Disposition: Convicted
Defendants/Suspects: » Brenda Davis » Tyrone Davis
Case Updates: 1 update(s) available
In early August, animal control found a dog in such bad shape it had to be taken straight to a vet and euthanized after they picked it up.
"The dog was very emaciated, dehydrated," said Animal Control Officer Melanie Wade. "The skin had sores, it was oozing. Blow flies were on the body, plus they were on the grass and leaves above the dog. The flies had also laid eggs all over the body."
It was one of the worst cases of animal cruelty in Angelina County. The dog's owners, Brenda and Tyrone Davis, were arrested and charged with animal cruelty. Their next court date is set for September 18th.
Case UpdatesA Lufkin couple has pleaded guilty to severely neglecting its family dog, which was euthanized days after authorities seized the animal.
Brenda and Tyrone Davis both accepted a plea bargain offer from the Angelina County Attorney's Office on Monday afternoon - a day before jury selection for their trials.
The terms included a year of probation and court-ordered psychological evaluations.
Tyrone Davis received an additional term of 30 days in jail.
In early August, neighbors of the Davises reported to authorities a lifeless animal that was tied to a tree. Deputies who arrived on the scene initially thought the black American Pit Bull was dead, an affidavit stated. They later determined the dog was breathing. An evaluation by a veterinarian revealed the dog had a "life-threatening skin infection" which had caused more than 90 percent of its fur to fall out, the report stated. Deputies decided to put the dog to sleep because of its severe condition, the report stated.
"It is one of the worst that we have ever seen," said Ed Jones, Angelina County Attorney.
In late August, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, a national animal activist group, sent a letter to Jones urging his office to seek maximum punishment against the Davises and order them to undergo counseling and a psychological evaluation.
Jones said his office took PETA's requests into consideration.
In addition to probation time, the Davises agreed to serve 80 hours of community service, animal abuse counseling, a complete psychological evaluation for conduct disorder and recommended counseling, according to the Angelina County Clerk's Office. | Source: Lufkin Daily News - Nov 15, 2006 Update posted on Nov 15, 2006 - 4:24PM |
