When Rodney Roy, animal control officer, followed up Thursday to a complaint at the home of Shari and Ernie Pedigo, 117 McMullin St, Crowley, they wouldn't let him into their trailer. He came back on Friday with a search warrant for the trailer and an abandoned house on the property.

Roy said when he took a couple of steps inside the trailer he was overwhelmed with the smell in the home. "I had to turn around I was gagging so bad. The inside of the trailer is nothing but urine and fecal matter."

The Crowley's 10 dogs and 9 cats were covered in ticks, fleas, skinny and were mangy. The animals all had to be put down.

The house had thousands of roaches and was filled with fleas.

On Sunday, volunteers with the Humane Society returned to the property and found more animals. Three more cats, two dogs. 27 rabbits and five featherless ducks. The humane society volunteers are taking care of these animals which were found outside the home. The animals outside the home were healthier than the ones found inside the home.

The Pedigos kept so many animals inside their trailer because they like them so much. It appeared they had kept the animals inside their home for so long they both became used to the stench of feces and urine in their home.
