David Phillips, 71, has been charged with 20 misdemeanor charges related to the deaths of 10 cats he allegedly abandoned when he was evicted from the Riverside Estates Mobile Home Park on June 29th. Phillips turned himself into the police on Friday.

Phillips is accused of leaving a total of 50 cats in the mobile home after he was evicted. There was trash found in the yard of the mobile home. Three dead cats were removed by maintenance, one more dead cat was found inside the mobile home and one cat died shortly after it was rescued.

The five cats that were caught on Wednesday had to be euthanized at the Cumberland County Shelter.

Almost all of the cats were sick, some of them had eyes swollen shut by infection, open sores were easily visible on some of the cats.

Phillips has been released after posting a bond of $5,000. He was scheduled to appear in Cumberland County District Court on Aug 6.
