Dog stabbed to death with kitchen knife
Zion, IL (US)

Incident Date: Sunday, Jul 9, 2006
County: Lake

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Justin W. Martin

Angered at the dog bite his 3-year-old son suffered at a neighbor's yard, a man killed the dog with a kitchen knife.

The incident occurred July 9 in the 3000 block of Eschol Avenue. According to police, the toddler was playing in the yard when the owner's dog, a German shepherd/pit bull mix, attacked and bit the child.

On learning it, the father became so angry that he took a kitchen knife from home and charged into the neighbor's house where he stabbed the dog to death as the owner looked on.

Justin W, Martin, 24, was charged with criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct. He was freed after he posted a cash bond. The knife used in killing the dog was recovered at the scene. The dead dog was removed for analysis to determine if it had been infected with rabies.
