more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

62 rabbits locked in hot truck, 22 die Perry, IA (US)Incident Date: Wednesday, May 31, 2006 County: Dallas
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Tammi Jo Sherman
This summer's hot weather was fatal for several animals in Dallas County. Perry police said they discovered 62 rabbits that were being neglected.
Authorities said that in June, when temperatures hit the 90-degree mark, Perry police got a call about rabbits in a pickup truck that were in danger.
When they arrived, police found 62 rabbits in the back of the truck -- 40 of them survived, but 22 died.
Police said they were left without water, food and shade for at least 14 hours.
Tammi Sherman has been charged with 22 counts of animal neglect. That's one count for each of the animals that died.
Court records show that Sherman entered a not guilty plea to the charges. She's scheduled to be back in a Dallas County courtroom in early August to fight the charges.
Authorities said that she surrendered custody of the surviving animals to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. It is nursing the rabbits back to health and many of them are ready to be adopted.
"There really is no excuse. It all comes down to pre-planning, being careful. Not getting yourself into a situation that is going to end up with these animals suffering or dying," said Tom Colvin of the Animal Rescue League.
Most of the rabbits are recovering and are ready to be adopted. Those who are interested in adopting a rabbit can stop by any of the Animal Rescue League's five Des Moines-area shelters. References « More cases in Dallas County, IA
