A McGill man is accused of shooting a neighbor's dog Wednesday June 21, 2006 around 8:37 a.m.
The White Pine County Sheriff's Department arrested Doug Miller of McGill for assault with a deadly weapon and maiming an animal.
According to the sheriff's department report, was shot in its rear hind leg. It was later discovered that the entry wound was through the hip.
While officers were traveling to the scene, dispatch "advised that Miller had the gun pointed at another male subject." This person owned the dog. He had approached Miller and asked why he shot the animal. According to the sheriff's department, Miller then pointed a gun at the male subject's head and told him to back off.
When the deputy arrived, he arrested Miller and placed him in handcuffs. After the scene was secured and a search warrant was obtained, officers found a Luger nine millimeter handgun.
Miller was booked into White Pine County Jail. As of deadline yesterday, he still was being held on $25,000 bail.
