Two Boston men were facing animal cruelty charges on July 18, accused of shooting a cat 50 times.
Police said Nathaniel Medina, 36, of Roxbury and Joao Fernandes, 27, of Dorchester used pellet gun to shoot the cat on Highland Avenue on July 17 in Roxbury. They were arraigned in Roxbury court on one count each of maiming an animal.
Officers responding to a call found a severely injured gray and white cat stuck between an iron security grate and a basement window. Directly below the cat, which was still alive but seriously wounded, were about 50 blue and white pellets.
Boston Police Animal Control officers responded to the scene and took custody of the cat, which later had to be euthanized. References« MA State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Suffolk County, MA
