Monkey, snakes, dogs and cats seized from home Eastwood, NY (US)Incident Date: Wednesday, May 31, 2000 County: Onondaga
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Vincent A. Pace
Vincent Pace, 54, had a monkey, ten snakes, eight dogs and two cats seized from his feces filled home in Eastwood, near Syracuse.
The authorities had been to his home before, in 1995 when they found 67 animals including a lion, a tiger, apes, pigs, a raccoon and a wallaby in his small home.
The latest visit in June resulted in Pace being charged with a misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals after the Central New York SPCA investigators visited his home.
Larry Kinne, SPCA investigator, said, "He was accused of improper confinement because the animals were living in a house full of feces. It was disgusting."
There was not any evidence of animal abuse.
Pace said, "This is a simple case of official harassment." He plans on trying to get all his animals back.
The SPCA will ask a city judge to put the animals up for adoption, including the snakes which aren't poisonous. References- Associated Press - June 22, 2000
