Barbara J. Russell has been charged with second-degree animal cruelty in a complaint filed by Kitsap County prosecutors.
It was the complaint of neighbors that led to the discovery of two dead llamas. Thirteen llamas were diseased or underweight and nine sheep had deformed hooves. The animal droppings in the barn were about three feet deep in the barn owned by Barbara Russell. The barn is located about one mile west of town.
Russell was out of town when the Humane Society visited the barn and found the neglected, starved and dead animals.
