Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

A German Shepherd puppy found tied to a chain trying to stay afloat in Biscayne Bay got a second lease on life on June 19, 2006. Martha, which is believed to be about a year old, was found by John and Julia Underwood of Coral Gables during a leisurely walk along Biscayne Bay when they saw her drowning.

Martha had a 4 pound chain around her neck and was in danger of drowning. The couple retrieved her from the bay and took her to Hollywood Animal Hospital for treatment where staff there believe the dog had undergone previous mistreatment and abuse. Hospital staff is confident that with further treatment Martha will make a full and speedy recovery.

The Underwoods donated a hefty sum of money to the staff and the hospital. However, Martha still needs to undergo several surgeries before she is ready for adoption. She is not expected to be ready for adoption for at least three weeks.

If you are interested in adopting her please contact Allen Babcock of the Dog and Cat Rescue Group at: 305-787-7353. You can also write to PO Box 381901, Miami Fl 33238.
