The Winton's had a family member stolen from right outside their home, and while they expected to be reunited with King, their pit bull, they didn't expect this.

"Thursday night I was in there watching TV," explained Mike Winton. "I heard my wife and kids screaming outside. The dog was running up the street on fire."

Their nine-month-old puppy had burns all over his body.

"I was mad," said Deomontae Winton. "Who would do that to a dog? He's like a brother to me, almost like a son cause I had him since he was a month and I've been taking care of him ever since."

One vet suggested putting him to sleep, but instead the family decided to nurse King back to good health. The puppy has to take medicine throughout the day for his burns.

The pain has also taken a toll on his appetite. He hasn't eaten in days, but it's not just trying times for King. Mike has a message for whoever is responsible. "You caused a lot of grief for my family, because King is apart of the family. When you hurt King, you hurt my family, and I don't think you'd want someone to hurt your family."

Although the Winton's are feeling a lot of hurt right now, they are also full of hope. "We know that God is going to look out for King," Mike said. "King is a survivor, because King made it back home. That's what we're thankful for - that he made it back home where he'll get the love and attention he needs as a pet."
