more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Dog neglected, starved to near-death Williamsburg, VA (US)Incident Date: Friday, Nov 30, 2001 County: James City
Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: George Buskey
George Buskey, 42, of Grove will begin to serve his 30-day jail sentence after exhausting all of his appeals. He was convicted in Williamsburg-James City County General District Court of cruelty to animals two years ago. After appealing to the Circuit Court he was convicted again.
Buskey's sentence was delayed while he appealed to the Virginia Court of Appeals and Virginia Supreme Court. These appeals were unsuccessful.
Buskey was ordered by Circuit Judge Samuel Powell to surrender the dog for adoption and reimburse the county for $532 in veterinary care the dog required. Buskey cannot own any other dogs for five years. He was also fined an additional $300 on related charges of failing to have the dog vaccinated against rabies, failing to have a dog license and letting the dog run free.
Buskey's dog, a Doberman pinscher called Brutus, has been in foster care for two years, and they will now be able to keep him.
The animal control officer said Brutus was doing very well and he's a very happy dog.
When Brutus was rescued two years ago, he was in a state of starvation having completely depleted his entire supply of fat and almost all of his muscle. The veterinarian testified that the dog would have soon died if it had not been rescued. References- Hampton Roads VA Daily Press - Dec 8, 2003
