Police arrested three people on animal cruelty charges after several roosters and other items used for cockfighting were found Tuesday in a home.

Those arrested include Siubonn Khouninn, Phiou Vancam and Somsalo Thonesavanh, all from Laos.

In court Vancam said the birds fought two weeks ago, but he said the fight was not in South Dakota.

At least seven roosters were found when officers searched the home as part of another investigation.
