Ronald Kerr, 49, has had to bury three of his beloved pets after they were poisoned with anti-freeze. The animals all died within a week and tests have confirmed they were given the lethal chemical.

Ronald now fears for the safety of his three other cats - Bubble, Pumpkin and Toby.

The former soldier said: "I really miss them. Why would someone do this?

"I love animals, especially cats. In fact, I prefer them to humans. They all have their' own personality.

"You can have a bad day at work but they're there for you at the end of the day.

"I'm being forced to keep my other cats inside. I just can't afford to let them out -I can't take that chance."

Animal cruelty inspectors are probing the killings in St Combs, Aberdeenshire.

But Scottish Gas worker Ronald added: "I'd love to get hold of this person and give them a shake.

"They are preying on defenceless creatures. I had to bury them myself and it was heart-breaking."

Ethylene glycol in anti freeze causes animals' organs to stop working.

The SSPCA have been left sickened by these latest attacks on pets.

Spokesman John Carle said: "It is illegal to poison animals and these offences are taken very seriously."
