On the night of June 7 Dothan police shut down a methamphetamine lab which could have been worth thousands of dollars.

Dothan police got the search warrant on the night of June 7 around 8:30 p.m. to search the house off Webb Road, and it took officers until about 5:30 a.m. the next morning to gather all the evidence from the meth lab.

The Dothan Police Departments Andy Martin said, We recovered the stuff in these bags that were in that plate that where they used a razor blade to cut it up, and they would either snort it or smoke it.

Police officials don't know for sure how long the suspects have been cooking the methamphetamine in the house off Webb Road, but they do know that it has stopped.

When police arrived at the house they found ingredients and meth inside a purse and beside the dishwasher. Matchboxes and a blow torch beside the dog food and many other ingredients for meth along the counter.

Police say the ingredients recovered could have totaled $10,000 worth of meth if it had been made.

Dothan Police Chief John Powell said, "We received info from the DEA in Florida and also through investigative sources that this lab was going on and that the individuals that were eventually arrested were responsible for the cooking of the methamphetamine.

Even though the materials to produce the methamphetamine were located inside the home, police officials say people outside the home, including pets and neighbors, could still be affected.

"Maybe neighbors or maybe people not knowing could come into the residence that the cooking's going on or that the chemical is present, certainly they are exposed to these chemicals and can pose a tremendous health hazard, said Chief Powell.

Police say this bust is just the beginning and they plan on bringing down any others in the area.

Police say there were no children inside the house, but there were about six or seven dogs outside and one small dog inside. Around the substances, all animals were taken by Animal Control.
