County: Citrus

Disposition: Convicted
Case Images: 4 files available

Defendant/Suspect: Alex Triplett

20 live dogs were seized from the owner's home and 2 sheds. One puppy was found dead and partially decomposed in one of the sheds. Conditions were reportedly so deplorable that one of the on-scene Sheriff Deputies refused to go into the home where both owners and their dogs were living.

Mr. Triplett stated they did not have money to get the dogs sterilized and he and his wife became overwhelmed by the resulting unplanned litters. When asked why none of the puppies were placed he stated they loved them too much to go to another home.

Mr. Triplett was sentenced to: county jail (15 weekends to begin 5/28/04 and every weekend thereafter until time served), 12 months probation, 40 hours community service, court costs and restitution costs.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
